Prèsse Laser
Laser hair removal.
Reduce the need for frequent shaving with a treatment plan designed for long-term hair reduction. Laser hair removal targets pigment in the hair to deliver energy to the follicle. Why a series is needed
Hair grows in cycles, and not every follicle is in the most responsive stage at the same time. Multiple appointments help target hairs as they enter a suitable growth phase. Spacing is based on the body area and observed regrowth. Treating too frequently does not automatically improve results.
The contrast between hair and skin, the wavelength used, and the provider’s technique influence safety and effectiveness. Dark, coarse hair often responds better than lightly pigmented hair. White, gray, very blonde, and some red hair may respond poorly because there is too little pigment for the laser to target.
What to expect
Your provider checks the treatment area and reviews changes in medication, tanning, and health history. Both client and provider wear protective eyewear. You may feel brief heat or snapping sensations during treatment. Temporary redness and swelling around individual follicles can occur afterward.
Frequently asked questions
Is laser hair removal permanent?
It can produce lasting hair reduction, but complete lifelong removal cannot be guaranteed. Some hair can return, and maintenance may be needed. Hormones can influence new growth, particularly on the face. The goal and likely outcome should be discussed for each treatment area.
How many sessions will I need?
Most clients need a series, often six or more treatments, but there is no single number that works for everyone. Hair characteristics, hormones, treatment area, and the response to previous sessions affect the plan. Additional sessions or later maintenance may be needed.
Can darker skin tones be treated?
Many darker skin tones can be treated with suitable technology and settings. Experience treating your skin tone is important because the skin also contains pigment. A consultation and, when appropriate, a test spot help guide the plan. No device makes treatment risk-free.
Does it hurt?
The sensation is often described as a brief hot snap. Comfort varies by area, hair density, and individual sensitivity. Cooling may be part of the device system. Tell your provider if the sensation becomes unusually intense rather than assuming severe pain is expected.
How do I prepare?
Avoid tanning and sunburn, and disclose self-tanner use. Do not wax, tweeze, or thread the area during the preparation period because the follicle needs a hair target. Shave according to the instructions provided before your visit. Report medications and recent procedures, and do not stop prescriptions independently.
What happens to the hair afterward?
Treated hairs may shed gradually over the following weeks. This can look like continued growth before the hairs release. Do not pull them out with tweezers. Follow the provider’s guidance about gentle care and when shaving can resume.
What are the risks and aftercare requirements?
Temporary redness and swelling are common. Burns, blisters, pigment changes, and rarely scarring or increased hair growth are possible. Protect the area from sun and follow instructions about heat, exercise, and skincare. Report blistering, marked pain, or worsening discoloration promptly.
Can laser help hormonal facial hair?
It may reduce suitable pigmented hairs, but it does not treat the hormonal cause. Ongoing growth may need maintenance and medical assessment. Fine facial hair requires particular care because treatment may be ineffective or, in some cases, stimulate additional growth.
